“Do Something Nice Day” – What will you do for your employees?

Research from industry experts such as Mercer, Gallup, and Hewitt proves the best way to show employees that you care is to recognize and reward them. Take the time on October 5th,  “Do Something Nice Day”,  to surprise your team. People who feel appreciated will be more invested in your company, work harder and give better service.   Here are some ideas for “nice things” you can do for your team.

1) Cook Breakfast – Surprise your employees by arriving early to cook and serve breakfast.

2) Informal Lunch – Order pizza or sub sandwiches. If the budget won’t allow it, approach one of your vendors to help sponsor the event.

3) Goodie Bags – Leave goodie bags on employee desks with a note of appreciation. Add a twist and include a testimonial message from your customers recognizing nice things your employees have done for them.

5) $100 of Thanks – Give each employee a one-dollar “thank you” bill and have them pay it forward to other employees through out the day.

4) Team Expedition – Take your team on a team expedition for half a day or let them go home early.

5) Place a treasure chest in a central location and invite each employee to draw something out of it throughout the day. Include things like gift cards for coffee or lunches, vouchers to get off work one hour early, and tchotchke from your vendors such as caps, t shirts, etc.

Do something nice for your employees. Show them that you care. It’s the right thing to do. A culture of caring ultimately leads to loyal employees and a better bottom line.
